MUNICH, Germany— ABS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to produce a feasibility study for a near-shore floating green hydrogen production and liquefaction platform.
Other signatories are the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH); HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a subsidiary of HD Hyundai Group; Linde Korea; and Linde Plc.
This is ABS’ latest study to support green hydrogen production, having previously delivered approval in principle (AIP) for HD Hyundai Group’s offshore green hydrogen production platform.
The South Korean government aims to advance commercial-scale production of green hydrogen to support the country’s energy self-efficiency. The feasibility study will be included in a report from the Jeolla Province to assess the viability of green hydrogen production and liquefaction on a near-shore floating platform with offshore wind power.
