ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands—Mammoet expects to shortly take delivery of the first components of a new 6,000-t ring crane, with the fully assembled system set to be delivered in 2024.
The SK6000 crane, which will be able to operate fully on electric power, will offer a high overall outreach, hook height and lifting capacity, Mammoet said, and is containerized, allowing for swift mobilization and onsite erection to provide heavy-lift capacity where needed.
One of the anticipated markets is the next generation of offshore wind farms with larger-capacity wind turbines.
It should also allow companies in the sector to launch heavier foundations, both fixed and floating.
