COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Ørsted has awarded Cadeler two contracts for the Hornsea 3 wind farm development in the UK southern North Sea.
One covers transportation and installation (T&I) of all monopile-type foundations, with the program due to in Q1/2026 and finish by the end of that year.
The two companies signed a reservation agreement for this project last August.
Cadeler’s second contract is for the installation of around half the wind turbine generators, with work starting as the foundations deliveries are completed and continuing into 2027.
The company will allocate one of its two newbuild X-class vessels and is currently assembling a team of project managers, engineers, and foundations specialists onshore. For this project Cadeler expects to employ 25-30 office personnel and 30-35 specialist offshore technicians.
It has also ordered two F-class jackup vessels for T&I of future extra-large monopile foundations similar to those featured in Hornsea 3.
The 2.85-GW development will cover a 796-sq km area offshore eastern England.
