DELFZIJL, the Netherlands  Jan de Nul has commissioned Wagenborg Towage to transport 107 monoplie foundations for the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 farms to the port of Eemshaven, northern Germany.

Over the next few months, with the support of the Waterlines tug, Wagenborg will execute 35 voyages with monopiles from Germany and Denmark to the temporary storage site in Eemshaven, using a specially equipped pontoon measuring 100 m by 33 m by 7.6 m.

The Wagenborg Barge 8 has hydraulically operated saddles and an additional internal ballast system allowing it to transport three monopiles per voyage, each weighing 1,500 t.

Construction of the 242-MW Gode Wind 3 and 900-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farms, both developed by Ørsted, in the German North Sea will begin this summer. They are due to enter full commercial operation in late 2024 and early 2025.
