DNV to supervise South Korea offshore wind project phases

SEOUL, South Korea  Elenergy, a Korean renewable energy developer, has named DNV owner’s engineer for its 1.5-GW fixed-bottom Chujin offshore wind project.

The facility, due to be completed in 2027, will be South Korea’s largest commercial-scale offshore wind farm with about 100 wind turbines. The location is 10 km east of Chuja-do in Jeju City, southern Jeonam province.

DNV will spearhead the pre-FEED and supervise contractors during the final design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations phases, working to mitigate risks and prepare optimal solutions for the construction campaign.

The Chujin wind farm will be constructed in three stages, comprising 500 MW for Phase 1 and an additional 1 GW for Phases 2 and 3.
