PSA authorizes Equinor's use of Hywind Tampen wind farm

Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use facilities at the new Hywind Tampen wind farm in the Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway  Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to use facilities at the new Hywind Tampen wind farm in the Norwegian North Sea, according to a June 3 PSA news release. 

The operations consent also covers the associated modifications to platforms on the Gullfaks and Snorre fields that will receive the generated electricity and further changes to the Valemon complex control room onshore in Sandsli that will manage the power supply.

Hywind Tampen is the first large wind power development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

In addition, the PSA has sanctioned two exploration wells. PGNiG Upstream Norway in Norwegian Sea Block 6608/1. Another semisubmersible, Transocean Norge, will drill the Lamba prospect for ConocoPhillips Skandinavia in North Sea Block 25/7.
