Seaway 7 to install Zhong Neng cables offshore Taiwan

China Steel Power Corp. Ltd. has contracted Seaway 7 to transport and install the submarine cable system for the Zhong Neng wind farm offshore Taiwan.

OSLO, Norway – China Steel Power Corp. Ltd. has contracted Seaway 7 ASA to transport and install the submarine cable system for the Zhong Neng wind farm offshore Taiwan.

The work scope includes 29 inner array grid cables and four landfall export cables of 66kV, totaling around 196 km (122 mi) in length. Seaway 7 will also undertake submarine cable route surveys, perform horizontal directional drilling activities, and execute post-lay trenching, termination, jointing, and testing services.

Offshore installation activities are expected to start in 2023.

The 298-MW Zhong Neng offshore wind farm will be about 13 km (8 mi) off Changhua County in western Taiwan. It will consist of 31 Vestas 9.6-MW wind turbine generators.

China Steel Power Corp. Ltd. is a joint venture company between China Steel Corp. and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
