LA CIOTAT, France – BW Ideol has agreed to take a 5% stake in the pilot 30-MW EolMed floating wind project in the French sector of the Mediterranean Sea.
The company has been collaborating with renewable energy developer Qair on EolMed since 2016 and from the early development stages when France’s government awarded the project based on BW Ideol’s floating wind technology.
In 2020, TotalEnergies Renewables acquired a 20% ownership in the project.
EolMed, comprising three 10-MW Vestas wind turbines, will be installed 15 km (9.3 mi) offshore Gruissan, southern France. Pending a final investment decision, construction should start early next year.
