COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Ørsted has contracted Cadeler A/S to transport and install wind turbine generators for the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 projects in the German North Sea.

The contract covers a minimum of 48 Siemens Gamesa 11-MW turbines.

Cadeler is expected to deploy its O-class installation vessel Wind Osprey. By the time the project is set to start, the vessel will have a new and upgraded main crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tons at a radius of 40 m (131 ft), with the main hook at a height of 160 m (525 ft) above the main deck.

In addition, BASF and Ørsted have signed a 25-year fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) for the 900-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm.

Under the CPPA, BASF will offtake 186 MW.

According to Ørsted, this is the longest CPPA for offshore wind ever announced.

The company also has secured planning approval from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency. It expects to take a final investment decision by the end of the year.
