PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands – Ørsted has contracted Boskalis to install the inter-array cables for the Borkum Riffgrund 3 and Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.
The contract includes the transport, installation, and burial of a combined total of 106 inter-array cables.
The cable-laying vessel Boka Ocean will execute the project. This 136-m (446-ft)-long vessel was acquired earlier this year and will be equipped with a 4,000-ton turntable. Project preparations will start soon, and cable installation activities are scheduled for early 2024.
Subject to Ørsted’s final investment decision, the 242-MW Gode Wind 3 and 900-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 projects are expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
