STAVANGER, NorwayHavfram says it will commission a new semisubmersible jackup vessel to support offshore wind projects off the US east coast.

This will have the capability to install the next generation of 20-MW plus wind turbines and potential to be powered by zero-emission fuel. The company is also looking at opportunities to deploy similar vessels in Europe.

Other recent projects include providing support for the design of a new type of floating offshore wind turbine. Under the next phase, Havfram will install the demonstrator unit offshore.

In addition, the company has been working on a tidal turbine pilot project offshore France and on various projects at Norway’s METCentre for testing new marine renewable energy technologies, including floating wind.
