Island vessel books work at two German offshore wind farms

The walk-to-work vessel Island Diligence will provide accommodation and transfer technicians at the DanTysk and Sandbank offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.

ULSTEINVIK, Norway – The Vattenfall and Stadtwerke München joint venture has contracted Island Offshore’s walk-to-work vessel Island Diligence for work at the DanTysk and Sandbank offshore wind farms in the German North Sea.
The Island Diligence will provide accommodation and transfer of technicians via the vessel’s gangway system. The wind farms are located within the German exclusive economic zone (EZZ) outside Esbjerg, and the vessel started operations from this port in early May.
The contract is a four-month firm agreement plus options. It secures work for the vessel until at least the end of August.
The 288-MW DanTysk offshore wind farm is 80 km (50 mi) from Esbjerg. It has been in operation since 2014 and consists of 80 wind turbines.
The 288-MW Sandbank offshore wind farm is about 20 km (12 mi) from DanTysk. It has been in operation since 2017 and consists of 72 wind turbines.
