STRAUME, Norway – Equinor has awarded Enhanced Drilling (ED) a five-year frame agreement covering operations on the Norwegian continental shelf, extending to global applications at a later date.

It covers use of ED’s CTS, RMR, MPC, EC-Dril and EC-Drill Dual MPD technologies.

EC-Drill’s controlled mud level system via involves managing wellbore pressure using a subsea pump attached to the riser. The system operates with subsea annulars, allowing full pressure management in all sections of the well.

The company’s cutting transportation system removes cuttings away from the well area during top-hole drilling on semisubmersible rigs and also clean-up operations on the seabed.

RMR (Riserless Mud Recovery) is a risk-reduction tool that designed to enable drilling with more stable top-holes more securely, faster and with a reduced less environmental impact. MPC (Managed Pressure Cementing) tackles isolation of problematic zones including during complex and narrow pressure window scenarios.

Finally, the EC-Dril Dual MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) system operates by default in CML mode but can also switch to surface back pressure mode.
