TRONDHEIM, Norway  OKEA has signed an agreement with DNO to take a 50% interest in the PL740 license in the northern Norwegian North Sea, containing the 30-MMboe Brasse oil and gas discovery.

The two companies plan a fast-track review in an attempt to develop an economic concept for the field, which is 13 km from the OKEA-operated Brage Field platform, 13 km to the north. OKEA became operator in 2022, following a transaction with Wintershall Dea Norge.

The company estimates Brage’s remaining resources at 15.7 MMboe.

DNO has studied options for a tieback to the Oseberg complex, a similar distance to the northwest.

The farm-in remains subject to an extension of the license and approval by Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

Faroe Petroleum discovered Brasse in 120 m water depth in 2016, with four delineation wells following during 2017-2019.

The reservoir contains oil with a gas cap in the Upper Jurassic Sognefjord Formation.
