SANDEFJORD, Norway — ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has submitted a plan for development and operation for the Eldfisk North project in the southern Norwegian North Sea to Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
This will develop a further 50 MMboe to 90 MMboe from the Eldfisk Field, discovered and produced in the 1970s and redeveloped in 2011.
ConocoPhillips and its partners plan three six-slot subsea production systems, housing nine producer and five water-injector wells.
Eldfisk North will be tied into the Eldfisk complex 7 km (4.35 mi) to the south. Estimated capex is NOK10.5 billion ($1.2 billion), with first production anticipated in 2024, and a CO2 emissions intensity of 7 kg/boe.
Contracts for the project could generate up to 4,000 to 4,500 jobs, with more than 80% likely to be awarded to Norwegian businesses.
Other partners in the development are TotalEnergies EP Norge, VÃ¥r Energi, Equinor AS and Petoro AS.
The Eldfisk reservoir comprises fractured chalk containing mainly oil, similar to other fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area.
