OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has opened a new area for CO2 storage in the North Sea.

According to Minister Terje Aasland, various companies have expressed interest for licenses under Norway’s new carbon storage regulations.

“Carbon capture and storage cuts emissions and creates employment, and we want the Norwegian Continental Shelf to be the leading province for CO2 storage,” he added.

The deadline for applications is June 1, 2022.
