LONDON – Serica Energy has started planning for an HP/HT exploration well on the North Eigg prospect in the P2501 license in the UK northern North Sea.
The company sees similarities in the structure to the nearby Rhum gas/condensate field, which produces through Serica’s Bruce field complex.
Negotiations are under way for a rig. If the well leads to a commercial discovery, Serica would seek a fast-track development via the Bruce facilities to the south of the prospect.
Keith is another nearby subsea tieback. Earlier this year Serica commissioned two platform-based well interventions which have restored output from the field’s single well at limited rates.
Further interventions should follow later this year to boost rates.
