TotalEnergies has produced first gas from the Fenix gas field offshore southern Argentina, 60 km from the coast of Tierra del Fuego.

Fenix lies within the Cuenca Marina Austral 1 (CMA-1) concession: TotalEnergies has a 37.5% operated share, in partnership with Harbour Energy (37.5%) and Pan American Energy (25%).

The development, designed to produce 70,000 boe/d, features a new unmanned platform in 70 m of water, connected to the existing CMA-1 facilities.

Gas from Fenix heads through a 35-km subsea pipeline to the Véga Pléyade platform and will subsequently undergo treatment onshore at the Río Cullen and Cañadon Alfa centers, also operated by TotalEnergies.

This is a low cost, low emissions development, the company stresses, with a carbon intensity of 9 kg CO2e/boe.
