RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Petrobras has signed a contract with Toyo Setal Empreendimentos to conclude work on the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) of the Itaboraí Gaslub Cluster.
Operations have been suspended since June 2022. Once the program resumes, gas processing operations in the cluster should begin in 2024, as foreseen in Petrobras’ Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
Work has finished on other components such as the subsea and onshore pipelines, and these are now in the final commissioning or pre-operation phase.
The Integrated Route 3 Project, of which UPGN is a part, will allow transportation and processing of up to 21 MMcm/d of gas produced in the Santos Basin presalt area and will increase the supply of gas to Brazil, reducing its dependence on LNG imports.
