ST JOHN’S, Canada — Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has updated its estimate for recoverable oil, contingent gas and NGL from the White Rose Field offshore Newfoundland and Labrador.

This follows Cenovus Energy's decision to move forward with construction of the wellhead platform and the White Rose Extension Project, prolonging the field’s anticipated lifespan from 2032 to 2038.

C-NLOPB has increased proven and probable (2P) resources, compared to previous analysis in 2015, from 404 MMbbl to 436 MMbbl. However, its 2P contingent gas estimate is down from the previous 2,716 Bcf to 1,497 Bcf, due to a change in methodology for the assessment process.

The 2P NGL is also lower, down from 82 MMbbl to 45 MMbbl, resulting from the decrease in gas volume.
