ATHENS, Greece—Energean Plc has proven another commercial gas field on its acreage offshore Israel.
The Hermes exploration well, drilled by the Stena IceMax on Block 31, discovered resources in the range of 7 Bcm to 15 Bcm.
Analysis of the well continues, with a view to firming up volumes and determining commerciality for both the discovery and the wider area. Hermes has helped to de-risk the nearby Poseidon and Orpheusprospects.
Stena IceMax has now moved to Block 12 (Olympus Area) to drill the Zeus structure, thought to hold 10 Bcm to 12 Bcm in the A/B/C sands.
Results from these wells will provide further data to assist resource estimates across the Olympus area, currently assessed at about 58 Bcm (unrisked recoverable).
Energean also has exercised its option with Stena Drilling for a sixth well in the current drilling campaign, probably on the Hercules prospect in offshore Block 23.
