KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Petronas has successfully deployed remote operations at eight of its drilling rig sites, the company said in its 2021 results statement.

Implementation involves off-site monitoring and supervision through the use of directional drilling and measurement while drilling, wireline and wearable technologies.

This new way of working, the company added, has improved the safety of its operations and led to cost efficiencies and a reduced carbon footprint.

Petronas Carigali has issued a Letter of Award to Velesto Drilling for six jackups (Naga 2-6, Naga 8).

The contract’s two-year primary period is due to take effect shortly, with extension options. Velesto will supply the rigs on a call-out basis as per Petronas’ requirements.
