DOHA, Qatar—QatarEnergy has an agreement with Shell to acquire a 40% stake in the exploration and production agreement for the C-10 Block offshore Mauritania.
Assuming customary governmental approvals, Shell would retain a 50% operated interest with Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) holding the remaining 10%.
QatarEnergy President and CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi said the agreement “further builds on our exploration footprint in Africa, and we look forward to a successful exploration program”.
The C-10 Block covers an 11,500-sq-km area, 50 km offshore in water depths of 50 m to 2,000 m.
