LUANDA, Angola – ExxonMobil and Sonangol P&P have signed three risk service agreements with the Angolan National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG).

These allow for an increase in size of the exploration area for deepwater blocks 30, 44, and 45 to more than 17,800 sq km (6,873 sq mi), with a view to assessing potential hydrocarbon resources in the unexplored Namibe basin.

ExxonMobil has a 60% operated interest in the concessions, which are 50-100 km (31-62 mi) offshore in water depths ranging from 1,500 to more than 3,000 m (4,921-9,842 ft).

“We will work with the Angolan government and ANPG to identify the border areas with the best resource potential, applying our proven experience and our cutting-edge technology,” said ExxonMobil general manager in Angola, Andre Kostelnik.
