CNOOC starts production on two oilfield projects offshore China
CNOOC has delivered first production from its Huizhou 26-6 oilfield development in the Pearl River Mouth Basin offshore China.
This is the company’s first deep buried hill reservoir project in the South China Sea, in a water depth of about 110 m.
Facilities include what is said to be China’s first "intelligent" drilling production platform and the modified FPSO Nan Hai Fen Jin.
CNOOC plans a total of two oil production wells and 17 gas wells, building to peak production of 20,600 boe/d in 2027.
CNOOC also has started production from the heavy-crude Jinzhou 23-2 oilfield development in the northern Bohai Sea offshore eastern China.
The main production facilities comprise two new central processing platforms, with plans to commission 65 production wells and two water source wells.
By 2027, the facilities should be operating at peak production levels of about 17,000 boe/d.
Jinzhou 23-2 oil field, in 13 m water depth, is also China’s first offshore heavy oil thermal recovery project offshore China. CNOOC is deploying “steam stimulation+chemical auxiliary steam flooding” to lower the viscosity of the crude.
The development will supply oil to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
