ABERDEEN, UK --Talisman's Tweedsmuir development has produced its first oil. The project involved development of two fields, Tweedsmuir and Tweedsmuir South in UK block 21/1aN, as a four-well subsea tieback to the Piper B platform, 54.72 km (34 mi) to the north.
Both fields feature a horizontal production well and a deviated water injector, with potential to add further wells in future. They will lift output through Piper B to 51,000 boe/d, once modifications to the platform have been completed this September.
Following processing on the platform, the fields' oil is exported by pipeline to the Talisman-operated Flotta oil terminal on Orkney. Although Tweedsmuir itself was discovered in 1983, most of the appraisal work on this and Tweedsmuir South was conducted during 2002-04.
