OSLO, Norway -- Statoil has contracted Grenland Group to modify the water injection module on the Gullfaks B platform in the North Sea. The equipment pumps sea water into the oil reservoir to sustain well pressure and production capacity.
Gullfaks B is the central production installation on the Gullfaks field, exporting oil to the Gullfaks A and Gullfaks C platforms for further delivery to shuttle tankers and gas through a pipeline to the terminal at Kårstø, western Norway.
The value of the contract is around $62 million. Work should be completed in mid-June 2012.
