LONDON -- Tullow Oil expects first oil in early December from the Jubilee Phase 1 project offshore Ghana.
During the second half of 2010, the partnership and its contractors have made solid progress, including commissioning, testing, and final installation work on the FPSO and subsea systems and the completion of four development wells.
Tullow expects to deliver production of around 50,000 b/d before year-end, ramping up to 120,000 b/d over the next three to six months.
In September, Kosmos Energy, the operator of the West Cape Three Points license submitted a Declaration of Commerciality to Ghana’s government for the southeast Jubilee area. Tullow says a Plan of Development should be submitted in February. The partners are reviewing standalone and Jubilee tieback options.
In the neighboring Deep Tano license (the Jubilee field straddles both permits), Tullow expects to start a three-well program later this month to appraise this summer’s light oil Owo discovery and the adjacent Tweneboa oil and gas condensate accumulation
Concept studies are under way for both fields, with a view to starting development in 2012.
In December, exploration drilling will also resume in the West Cape Three Points license, starting with a well on the Teak prospect.
