CALGARY, Alberta --Antrim Energy expects to start appraisal drilling late February on the Fyne field in UK North Sea block 21/28a.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Prospect will be used. The campaign follows a successful program last year on Antrim's Causeway discovery in the UK northern sector.
Following a high resolution 3D seismic survey acquired over Fyne last May, Antrim will target an Eocene Tay sandstone reservoir at a depth of around 4,500 ft (1,371 m).
The location is near the Fyne discovery well, which tested oil at up to 3,600 b/d. Antrim plans to drill a near-vertical pilot well and several laterals within the discovered oil column.
Fyne is around 12 km (7.5 mi) southwest of Shell's Guillemot field, which also produces oil from the Eocene Tay and Jurassic Fulmar sandstones.
