(US,GoM)-Chevron says its Typhoon TLP was ripped from its moorings and was severely damaged when Hurricane Rita swept through the Gulf's waters over the weekend.

The company says that the floating production facility has been located and is being secured. The operator adds that it is conducting an investigation and addressing environmental damage that may have been caused by the displaced structure.

The oil giant also quickly shot-down industry reports that pointed to Chevron as the responsible entity for two gas leaks that occurred around its Henry Hub facility, located near Sabine Pass in western Louisiana. A company spokesperson said, "Neither came from its Sabine Pipe Line Co. or from Henry Hub."
