STAVANGER, Norway  Equinor has made a small but commercial gas discovery close to the Gina Krog Field in the Norwegian North Sea.

The semisub Noble Lloyd Noble drilled the development well with an exploration target. Equinor foresees 5 MMboe to 16 MMboe recoverable via a tie-in to infrastructure connected to the Gina Krog platform.

Preparations have already taken place on the platform to enable production to start by year-end 2023.

This was the first commercial find on the Gina Krog license since 2011. Equinor operates in partnership with KUFPEC Norway and PGNiG Upstream Norway.

Nearby, Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has approved Equinor’s request to use facilities for the supply of power from shore at the Sleipner A processing, drilling and accommodation platform at the Sleipner Øst Field, which started production in 1993.
