    First-phase Absheron gas project online offshore Azerbaijan

    PARIS, France — TotalEnergies and SOCAR, the 50:50 partners in the JOCAP venture, have brought onstream the Absheron Field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, 100 km southeast of Baku.

    Under the first-phase development, a subsea production well is connected to a new gas processing platform linked to SOCAR’s facilities in Oil Rocks, producing up to 4 MMcf/d of gas for sale to the domestic market in Azerbaijan and 12,000 bbl/d of condensate.

    TotalEnergies claims the technical cost of the development is “competitive technical,” with a low greenhouse-gas emissions intensity.
