ATHENS, Greece — Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, accompanied by the country’s Prime Minister and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, has held talks with Greek infrastructure investor Copelouzos Group.
Discussions covered potential cooperations in electricity production projects from renewable energy sources in Egypt, with the power transported to Europe through Greece via the offshore electrical connection between Greece and Egypt.
This would capitalize on modern infrastructure developed by Egypt over the past few years, and the country’s wind and solar energy sources.
Egypt is seeking to consolidate its position as a regional hub in the Mediterranean for the trading of all types of energy.
