LONDON  Neptune Energy and partner Spirit Energy have brought onstream the 10th well at the Cygnus gas field in the UK southern North Sea.

Drilling has since started on the 11th well, and this should begin producing during the spring.

Cygnus can now produce sufficient gas to meet the needs of about 2 million UK households, Neptune said, adding that the field has one of the lowest carbon intensities on the UK Continental Shelf, at ~4kg of CO2/boe.

Borr Drilling’s Prospector 1 jackup drilled the latest well. The rig is said to be the first in Borr’s fleet equipped with technologies that reduce carbon and nitrogen emissions from operations by up to 95% and particle matter emissions by more than 85%.
