LONDONSerica Energy has achieved first production from its Columbus gas/condensate field development in the UK central North Sea.

Hydrocarbons from the C1z development well are flowing into the Arran subsea system, with the commingled Arran/Columbus wellstreams exported to Shell’s Shearwater platform for processing and onward delivery to the gas and liquid sales points.

Serica expects Columbus to reach peak rates by early December.

Chief executive Mitch Flegg said the company was involved in the original discovery of Columbus and acted as operator through the appraisal and development phases.

The other partners are Waldorf Production UK and Tailwind Energy.
