RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras achieved a new monthly record this April for the use of natural gas from its producing fields of 97.7%, the company revealed in its 2Q results statement.

However, following the slowdown in demand in March/April caused by the falling oil price and COVID-19, Petrobras’ overall output of oil, NGLs and natural gas in the quarter was 3.7% lower than in 1Q.

Safety measures – operating with a restricted number of people on board facilities and prioritizing essential services to keep operational activities safe – led the company to postpone interconnections of new wells, commissioning of new production units and maintenance stoppages. These activities will now resume in September.

Petrobras has revised its full-year production target to 2.7 MMboe/d.
