DARLASTON, UKHydratight has installed two Morseal enclosure clamps on the outer diameter of a riser connected to Shell’s Nelson platform, 80 km (50 mi) northeast of Aberdeen.

These are the first Morseal installations for Shell in the North Sea, Hydratight said.

The clamps were applied to seal the riser in two locations, extending the riser service life and allowing Shell to perform riser repairs at a more convenient time, the company added.

They were installed on the outer diameter of the riser, with a high-grade elastomeric sealant injected through multiple inlet ports mounted to the clamp, ensuring that the sealant could flow and fill the cavity and reach the leak point.
