GreenStream BV has contracted Saipem to provide supervision and subsea intervention services for the GreenStream pipeline in the Mediterranean Sea.
The work scope applies throughout the offshore sections between Mellitah in Libya and landfall at Gela, Sicily, and also the onshore sections connected to these terminals.
The award merges the activities Saipem has been conducting for GreenStream since 2008—asset integrity, inspection, maintenance and emergency pipeline services—expanding the remit to cover a wider range of scenarios.
Sonsub, Saipem’s robotics, underwater technologies and services division, will manage the expanded program in coordination with the Saipem Engineering Hub in Fano, Italy.
Priorities will include streamlining integrated management of survey data and critical spares, provision of specialized engineering services for asset integrity, and services for repair interventions to cover damage scenarios.
Sonsub will deploy its remotely operated repair system SiRCoS, which has been qualified to operate in water depths of up to 2,200 m.
Saipem’s partnership with GreenStream started in 2002 with the contract to lay the pipeline.
