Barossa gas pipeline close to completion

ADELAIDE, Australia Santos’ Barossa gas project in the Timor Sea offshore northwest Australia is currently 70.6% complete, the company said in an update.

Installation of the 262-km gas export pipeline between the FPSO and the Darwin LNG complex should finish next week, and the initial SURF installation campaign has concluded.

Development drilling continues with the second of the six wells nearing completion. Thirteen of the 16 topsides modules have been installed on the FPSO with sailaway from Singapore to the field scheduled for first-quarter 2025.

Consultation for the production operations environmental plan is underway with submission to the regulator anticipated in the second half of the year.

Earlier this week, Allseas’ pipelay vessel Audacia installed its largest pipeline end termination in S-mode for the Barossa gas-condensate development. Audacia, supported by the Fortitude, Alegria, Felicity and Fortress vessels, is laying Barossa’s gas export pipeline. 

In the same region, the Bayu-Undan Field continues to produce gas and liquids but is set to reach end of life shortly.
