Offshore staff
MOSCOW– Gazprom has started work on the South Stream gas pipeline construction project. This will take gas to southern and central European countries via a new route, crossing the southern part of the Black Sea.
The offshore section will run from the Russkaya compressor station on the Russian side to the Bulgarian coast. Total length of the Black Sea section will be more than 900 km (559 mi), with a maximum depth beyond 2 km (1.2 mi), and a design capacity of 63 bcm (2.2 tcf).
Gas supplies will be provided via the newSouthern Corridor gas transmission system project. This being implemented in eight Russian Federation constituents: the Nizhny Novgorod region, the Republic of Mordovia, the Penza, Saratov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Rostov Regions, and the Krasnodar Territory.
Currently, the gas pipeline routes are being optimized, engineering studies are being performed, and gas linepipes and compressor stations are being designed.
