LONDON – Engineering consultancy LOC Group has completed the delivery of marine warranty survey (MWS) services for construction of the TurkStream gas pipeline in the Black Sea.
The twin-pipeline system was commissioned in January 2020. South Stream Transport B.V. had contracted LOC in 2014 to provide MWS services for the fabrication and installation of the pipelines.
In addition, the company provided marine engineering consultancy concerning the DP systems, including those on Allseas’ pipelay vessel Pioneering Spirit, which had not been deployed previously for this type of work.
The project involved laying the 32-in. pipelines across 930 km (578 mi) of the Black Sea, from southwest Russia to the landfall in Turkey, in water depths of up to 2,200 m (7,200 ft).
Pipeline construction started in May 2017, with first gas delivered in January 2020.
