TGS and Petrobras have agreed to collaborate on scientific research and technological developments in Brazil.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) is the first step in the partnership, with the aim being to deploy TGS’ data acquisition and processing with Petrobras’ operational capabilities.
The goals are to develop new technologies and jointly perform research to increase efficiency and sustainability in oil and gas exploration and production.
They will also work on solutions for innovation in renewable energy technologies and carbon capture.
Joint scientific research should help improve knowledge of Brazil's sedimentary basins, including the analysis of geological and geophysical data.
The MoU establishes the basis for the creation of joint working groups and initiation of R&D projects that will be implemented over the next few months.
Earlier this month, TGS announced it started acquiring the PAMA 3D Phase 1 seismic survey in the Equatorial Margin offshore northeast Brazil. This will cover a 19,343-sq-km area over more than 25 future exploration blocks across the unexplored Pará-Maranhão Basin.
TGS is exhibiting this week at booth 1800 at SEG and AAPG's IMAGE 2024 event in Houston. View the IMAGE program to learn more about presentations by this company and more.
