BERGEN, Norway — ONGC has contracted Shearwater Geoservices for a 3D seismic survey over the Cauvery Basin offshore eastern India.
The company will deploy the SW Empress to acquire the 4,600-sq-km survey in the Bay of Bengal, with the program due to start shortly.
Earlier this week, ONGC commissioned Shearwater to acquire a six-month ocean-bottom node survey offshore India. The company will deploy its Pearl node technology onboard the SW Tasman, a vessel designed for advanced seismic source and dual-ROV operations.
And last month ONGC achieved first oil from the deepwater KG-DWN-98/2 Block off the coast of Bay of Bengal. ONGC says this 98/2 project is likely to increase its total oil and gas production by 11% and 15%, respectively.
