OSLO, Norway — TGS-Petrodata has begun acquisition of the Awele South 3D multiclient survey offshore Nigeria, having secured a petroleum exploration license (PEL) with support from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.
The program, supported by industry funding, will cover about 5,900 sq km in the designated 56,000-sq m PEL area with an estimated duration of about 90 days.
In compliance with the country’s Petroleum Industry Act 2021, the project is designed to deliver insights into untapped hydrocarbon resources and deepwater/ultradeepwater petroleum systems of the Niger Delta Basin.
