OSLO, Norway — TGS and DownUnder GeoSolutions (DUG) have started work on their 20,347-sq-km Peninsular Malaysia Stage 2 Regional 3D reprocessing project.

Data coverage from this program and the 16,957-sq-km Stage 1 will amount to one of the largest multiclient 3D reprocessing projects undertaken in Asia, TGS claimed.

Thirty-two 3D seismic surveys of varying vintages will undergo reprocessing in Stage 2, comprising already held acreage, MBR License Blocks and open acreage in the Malay Basin.

Results will create a single contiguous 3D pre-stack time and pre-stack depth migrated (PSTM and PSDM) volume, with FWI, Q-Migration and Q-Tomography deployed to support imaging clarity, especially over complex features such as gas clouds.

The resulting modern regional scale dataset will help oil and gas companies evaluate the Malay Basin for exploration purposes, also assisting identification of new carbon capture and storage opportunities.

Final time and depth migrated products should be issued in mid-2025.
