PARIS – CGG has licensed its Northern Viking Graben multi-client seismic data set in the northern North Sea to Northern Lights JV DA for its current CO2 storage development in the Norwegian sector and future projects.
This is CGG’s first data licensing award in the CO2 storage market. The company plans to continue expanding its multi-client data library to support initiatives by the industry players to identify and de-risk subsurface storage sites, and provide information for assessing storage resources and determining safe monitoring solutions.
Northern Lights’ scheme will be the world’s first cross-border open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network offering CO2 storage to companies across different sectors in Europe.
The aim is to help mitigate emissions and to provide safe and permanent storage of CO2 beneath the seabed in Norway.
