ODIHAM, UKShell’s planned 3D seismic survey in the UK southern North Sea will likely be deferred to February 2022.

According to partner Egdon Resources, the survey over the Resolution and Endeavor gas discoveries in licenses P1929 and P2304 was due to start in March/April.

However, a revised environmental impact assessment and stakeholder discussions determined that the optimum window would be in February, to minimize possible disruption to local fishing, marine mammalian movements, the breeding season for sea birds, and tourism.

The timeframe for finalizing agreements concerning management of fishing vessels in the survey area appeared too tight for the program to go ahead in February, Egdon said.

Subject to the Oil and Gas Authority approving an amendment to the license obligations, the plan now is to move the survey to February 2022, to allow all agreements to be finalized well in advance.
