TRONDHEIM, Norway – Statoil has submitted the environmental impact assessment for the Johan Sverdrup field development in the central Norwegian North Sea.
Partner Det norske oljeselskap expects Norway’s parliament (Stortinget) to approve the plan for development and operation by next spring, allowing production to start in 2019.
Estimated costs for the first development phase remain at NOK 100-120 billion ($14.7-17.66 billion), Det norske adds, with production in the 315,000-380,000 b/d range.
No investment decision or concept selection has been agreed on for future phases. However, investment costs for the full-field development could reach NOK 170-220 billion ($25-32.4 billion), the company claims, with production between 550,000 and 650,000 b/d.
