SOUTHBANK, AustraliaKaroon Energy has issued updates on its development projects offshore Brazil and in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM).

At the Baúna Field in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil, production is in line with revised expectations following resolution of recent hydrate issues.

Karoon is sourcing a vessel to replace the gas-lift valve in the SPS-88 well and is in talks with the regulatory authorities on the work program. The well should come back onstream during the fourth quarter.

Studies on the potential Neon Field development are nearing completion, with Karoon’s board set to determine shortly whether to progress to the Concept Select phase.

One possibility is a hub development that over time could handle production from other nearby offshore accumulations such as Goiá and Neon West.

Following Karoon’s farm-in to the Who Dat Field in the GoM, the company expects to pay $100 million to $200 million to cover its share of costs for drilling up to three new appraisal/exploration wells during the second and third quarters on the Who Dat East, South and West accumulations.

The Who Dat infill drilling program has finished with the G2 and G4 wells currently being commissioned and optimized. Production from the field continues to ramp up, currently at ~38,500 boe/d.
