OSLO, Norway  Equinor has permission from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to make ready and pressurize the new flowline, umbilical and manifold for the Askeladd West field development in the southern Barents Sea.

The facilities are tied back to the Askeladd Field. Production will be exported 195 km to the processing complex at Melkøya.

As of May 31, the gas leak that occurred at the Hammerfest LNG plant at Melkøya had been stopped and normalization was underway. The leak occurred in connection with a valve in one of the plant’s cooling circuits. The gas that leaked is used for cooling during production of LNG.
